I also have nema 23 motors and when I first set up the machine they were too hot to touch. I don't remember the spec.
but they were less than the maximum.I think somewhere around 120 130 Farenheit. I do not like things to run that hot so I mounted heat sinks on the motors and the tempdropped to about 105 fahrenheit. Warm to the touch but you can hold your hand on them.
