Hello.

I want to add a feed override switch to my setup. Could you suggest me a switch to buy ?
I want to have 12 or 16 positions and a b c d as outputs.

Thank you in advance.

This might depend on where you live.

To hazard a guess, based only on your name, maybe:

Why do you care about the output?

A switch can't possibly output hexadecimal. Whatever the switch outputs is something that can be handled by HAL.

In practice you will connect the switch pins to a HAL mux component of the right size, and then populate the mux inputs to suit. And that means that absolutely any encoding will work as well as any other.

Sorry. Maybe my english is not so good.
I mean that i want the name of the category of the switches that has 16 possitions and 4 output legs. A B C D. So the four legs can be the select pins in the mux16 component in hal. I have bought a 12 possition switch but with one common leg and 12 other legs each for one possition. So i need 12 inputs for this switch only.

So my questions are:
1) can i convert the switch i have bought to a A B C D output somehow?
2) how am i looking for the switches with 16 possitions and 4 output legs A B C D? Witch is the category name? For example rottary switches is very general.

That would be called "binary" or "gray code" output.

The one I gave you a link to was binary output.
