Has anyone done a retrofit on old Bridgeport DX32 VMC with Siemens drives? My machine is fine but losing the BMDC card. It seems like the drives are just looking for an analog voltage to move (maybe +_5VDc?)
Encoders are in use of course.

Would like to keep rigid taping

Oralternatly I also have a discovery 308 that I could steal the BMDC from it to fix my VMC. Then I would need to retro the 308. Big John did you ever do that to yours?

Sorry for the late reply. If the servos are +/- 10V (or 5V) and the encoders are standard quadrature then LinuxCNC should be a fairly easy retrofit.
Rigid tapping is built in to LinuxCNC. All you need is a spindle encoder.
