Or, reverse engineer the signals between the open frame computer and the power controller, dump the entire original fragile computer setups and just replace it with linuxcnc hooked up to same and the servopacks (that'd be a awesome option!)
Find the circuit diagrams for your machine showing how the control frame computer connects to the generator and gets feedback from it on when there is a short between wire and workpiece then work back from them?
Henk has done the axis/wire feed interfacing already, but doesnt have a original generator to work with.
Did you ever get your machine working? My three A280s are now all dead and I am now faced with an immidiate decision whether to tackle a retrofit project.or invest in a different machine.

I would be glad to help, but everything I have is for A280. I have some wire diagrams and general manuals. All of my machines have quit not only with NEC9810 problems but the main machinie computer has also failed. I have been trying to do a LinuxCNC control retrofit with EtherCat but that isn't going well due to the EtherCat - motors don't move and nobody seems to know why.
