Encoder Noise was created by chris@cnc
Hello,
Problem is after long run runtime has my x axis shift position. So i take a look of my encoder signal and see much noise and only 4V. I try to adjust encoder head but it get not better. Second i use a seperate cable around machine but also same result. I measure other axis and looks good 5V and not so much noise. Finaly i found if Z-Axis ready the noise starts. In EMG no noise but also only 4V. And i have no idea wy?
I use a separte electical cabinet for power and nc to avoid this kind of problems but it seems not good enough.
My last idea is to use a optocupler from ttl 5V input to Rs422 output. But i have no idea if its work or how to order?
Has someone hardware like this in use or an other solution?
Thanks Christian

- Check the connectors on the drive side if they are properly shielded,
- check if the cable is crimped
- if the cable is to long, do not roll it, never make a roll out of a signal cable
- use the encoder cable from the other drive too see if it does the same thing
- make sure the back plates on both boxes are properly grounded.

Note that 4V encoder signals should be fine and about what you
would expect from TTL drivers.

If these encoder signals go to Mesa encoder inputs you may be able
to increase the encode filter time constant to remove some noise

If these encoder signals go to Mesa encoder inputs ........

From the pictures it looks like it is a 7i76E, so the encoders are only on the drives.
Edit:
PCW pointed out that there are two more daughter boards that i did not see.

I'm not so sure as there are 2 daughterboards

Cr@p, missed those.
Thank you for pointing that out.
On the bottom one there are some shielded cables, but the shielding is not connected to anything, so if those are the encoder wires the shielding has to be grounded.

Yes Encoder connect to 7i85s And 7i85 cards. How to increase the encode filter time constant to remove some noise? Or is possible to use z Signal. Enoder is magnetic linear type. Mounted under x axis direct. Z axis is pulscoder on Servo.
The cable on button is y Axis Encoder. Outside is only protect. Scale is from DRO manual Lathe.

What is the encoder resolution and maximum velocity?
Last edit: 24 Jul 2020 15:09 by PCW. Reason: linear encoder so max vel, not RPM

5ยต resolution and 60 m/min feed rate is in manual.
Rapid feed of machine is limit by 3m/min.
is not fixed on the floor...:)

how to adjust it?
