Servobelt has something silmilar, it is a very nice belt drive, for sure.
But i would have used the other side, having two separate matching surfaces requires very high precision, or the belts will grind .

I wondered if that did not actually let the belt adjust for different tensions. But I think doing it the way you do is just as good

I do like this solution and by far it beats everything belt or rack/pinion for light loads, the only issue i have is there is no 3M double sided glue tape here, the ones i can find will undo itself before i reach the end of the belt.

The best 3m double sided tape is applied with a dispenser. ATG 700 dispenser

Expensive but just super awesome to use. You can get different adhesives so get the permanent one.
