CNC Router build with HSR45 rails? was created by Catch22
Hi everyone, I'm in the process of building a 4x5 cnc router I have some hsr25 rails that will go on the gantry and I also have some hsr45 rails with bearings that I bought for dirt cheap and was going to use them on the y axis, I know this is over kill but do you think it will cause any problems for me. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Mike

Besides requiring beefier motors, they are just fine. More than fine, overkill as you mentioned. Those can run a metal milling machine easily.
Just the force needed to move HSR45 carriages is huge compared to what normal plasma machines use.
Go for it.
