hello there
After 4years working on CNC milling machine I decided to make one of my own for some extra cash
past few months I've spent in researching and finding out what I really want
it came down to 1500x1500x500mm (1200x1200x250mm working area)
I'll be working hardwood, plastics, and maybe some aluminium from time to time
about design
for X axis, I'll be using linear guide rail 20mm with 2010 ballsrews on each side
for Y axis, 2x linear guide rail 20mm with 2010 ballsrew
and for Z axis, linear guide rail 20mm with 1605 ballsrew
Frame will be welded steel and gantry 90x180mm extruded aluminium profile
Z axis will be mounted on 150x500x20mm aluminium plate
I think that covers up what I want, here's the list I came up with
4x 4Nm closed loop steppers KIT with drivers and power suplly from stepperonline
Motors link
3kW air cooled spindle from rattm-motor with VFD (it's cheaper then 2,2kw)
SPINDLE
VFD
inductive switches and emergeny switch (still have to find which one)
I was plannig to use MESA 7i96 STEP DIR I/O daughtercard
correct if I got something wrong
for that card I need separate 5V power supply ?
card power
I've seen lots of projects where ppl use buch of other stuff in their system (noise filters, fuses etc)
Do I really need those, or can I just connect everything according to schematics ?
I'm sure I missed something, so before I go on shopping spree, I'd be grateful if you can point me and correct before I buy something wrong or something that I dont need
thanks in advance
here's a rough idea of what I'd like to make
Cheers, Goran

I think that you probably should expect to need a line filter for the VFD, but they do not add much to the cost.
DIN rail breakers are neater than fuses, and are a one-time cost. They can be had in very small sizes: uk.rs-online.com/web/c/fuses-sockets-cir...&sort-order=asc&pn=1
Pricing seems random.

Equipment wire, ferrules for the wires. Connectors (I like Neutrik SpeakON for steppers, rated 20A)

don't forget to use shielded cable for all your connections! beldon wire is the best to keep gremlins at bay
