Alright! I found the solution! In my INI file I had my pulses per revolution set to 50. It needed to be -50. It works!

Hi everyone, I need to hook up a coolant pump and spindle controls that are usable both when using the machine for CNC and manual. What is the best way to do this? I've thought about it a bit, and I think I will need a physical switch on both to make this work.

When doing manual work do you intend to still have Linuxcnc running? Or do you want to have the PC off? It may be good to keep Linuxcnc running so you can still use it for DRO and power feed purposes, and if that is the case you can use the onscreen controls that are built into the GUIs for manual control of the spindle and coolant.

I have three position switches (off-auto-on) for some features of my lathe. But the logic is handled in HAL so requires that LinuxCNC be running.
Physical switches are probably the only way if you don't want to have LinuxCNC running.

Hi PCW, I have my machine setup with a spindle encoder and I'm trying to cut threads now, but the RPM signal is bouncing around a ton, like plus or minus 150 RPM. And my threads turn out inconsistent. Any advice?

Is the counting precise?

That is, if you turn the spindle say 10 turns by hand, do you get exactly
500 counts?

It wasn't, I ended up replacing the encoder with a nicer one, and in the end it works ok, it's just a poor surface finish which isn't an electronics issue! Thanks for your help!

Hahaha, I remember you mentioning it, but this is the first time I've seen the picture!. I wonder who the hell thought that was a good enough idea to make it worth making a plaque for.
