I assumed something like that but I did not have the energy required to keep digging.

Finally, I decided not to do the scaling and play with FF1 such that f-error gets minimized (starting from 1.0 / vel at 10V).

Hi Petros,
I have the same machine at home and thinking of converting it to linuxcnc as well. What is the current status of your project? Could you give me tips on how to start and what to look out for?

Thanks for your reply :)

Kind regards
Christoph

Hello Christoph,

Sadly, I didn't get notified about you post. So, many months later, what is your current status?

The machine is working, the retrofit was succesful but I am having some accuracy issues (for now, I believe it's the ballscrews)

You can browse this repository, all my work is there.

github.com/petmakris/maho-mh500w

About tips, what is the current status of the machine? Is it in a working order?

Hi Petmakris!

I'm starting a linuxCNC conversion on a MH500W2 with a faulty Philips 432/9. Planning to use all your hard work in order to get it up and running again. I'll be using a Rpi5 and a 7I97T and three EXEs.

My first step has been to wire the mill to the 7I97T, but i have a question about the "Limit"s. In the MAHO documentation the limit switches seems to be connected in series 204-207,

did you rewire these or simply used 205,206,207 as limit X,Y,Z?

Regards,
Hampus

But I'm more of a software / mechanical guy, so any advice would help :D
- DO IT!!!
- a lot of reading
- never wire everything and hope it just works, it won't
- do everything step by step, especially wiring and testing the electronics
- ask, ask, and ask again, we are here to help as much as humanly possible
