Mazak QT10N retrofit was created by Ashley
Hi thereI'm planning to retrofit a QT10N using Mesa hardware. It has a Mitsubishi TRA8 servo amplifier which drives both X and Z axis.It uses encoders as well as tach generators but I'm not sure how the tach generator is used or how to integrate it with Mesa/Linuxcnc. The tach generator signal appears to go to the NC rather than to the drives. Do I need to emulate a velocity signal? Im also having trouble figuring out the amp wiring.Servo wiring diagram attached.Help and advice appreciated,Ashley

Mitsubishi or Fanuc control?
For TRA8 no worries, i have already figured out everything.
The other wiring is a big undertaking, so get a lot of coffee ready, took several days chasing blue cables around, above, under, and inside the machine!
First thing, check if it has encoders or resolvers. If resolvers, find info about those and post here to confirm if they can be used or not. I had to remove mine and mount incremental encoders.
Here is something to get you started:

It's a mitsubishi control. I was fairly confident I have encoders but now you've got me concerned. (I had a skim of that thread you posted).
