Blew up my VFD; need advice was created by kenthompson
A short occurred in my spindle wiring (my fault, bad solder joint) and my VFD produced a large 'snap' before dying (power light blinking on and off). Looked inside the VFD and some physical interconnects blew out.
I am concerned that my spindle may be damaged and potentially introducing a short. Ordered a new VFD, but I want to confirm my Spindle isn't going to damage the new one once hooked up.
How can I test the spindle to confirm? I have a multi meter.. should I test for shorts across pins? Please help.

You could verify that the phase-phase resistance was the same for all
connections, and that the phase to Ground resistance was infinite.

Resistance same across pairs, and infinite from phase to ground. Thank you!
