Open source CAM for linux was created by Dan Falck
Thanks BigJohnT for setting this up.
I wanted to start a thread on open source CAM programs for linux. They do exist. They might be a little wet around the ears at the moment, but they are there and with a little ingenuity, can be used to generate Gcode for emc.
Here is a good place to start, when you are looking for this kind of stuff:

The REALIZE LISP code at timeguy.com/cradek/autocad is exactly what I
was planning to write, Thanks for this post. Placing text on layers to control feed
rates and dwell times puts all the machining info in the drawing file,
