So for the most part I use Autodesk fusion 360 and it works fine until you go to use the multi axis option
in the Manufacturing section to find it's kept behind a pay wall. $85 per month or $680 per year and that's
on top of the regular subscription price. It's Just another reason why subscription based CAM is a losing
proposition for anyone not using it on a commercial basses. I would be using it for
generating G code for my CNC foam lathe project and need to be able to sync. the spindle to the "bit"
( actually a soldering iron ). One of the alternative software's I have come across is DeskProto. It looks
like it is a buy a license type of program not a subscription service. see link, and the bottom of it's page
www.deskproto.com/products/comptable.php
The big question is has anyone else used this software and if so how do they like it ? Would they
recommend it? Lets face it FreeCAD doesn't have 4 to 5 axis capability. At least not yet.

No.
Rant:
A while back a client was not satisfied with using Inkscape for Plasma, so he went on a journey to find something better, and after paying nearly 4000 Euro for several licences, he is still using Inkscape.
What was strange for me is that he did not like SheetCAM at all, his words "looks to cheap".
Personally, only open source, so have you checked BlenderCAM?
No idea what it does or how far has development come, Blender is a beast so taming it takes time.

Thanks tommylight. When I had run a search on open source 4 or 5 axis cam not much came up. Today's search
engines seem to be almost worthless. With that said I'll check into BlenderCam.

This is interesting as it runs on Linux. Wish it was cloud based though!
My F360 license is expiring soon and it's gonna be AUD $1k which will hurt.

Regarding search engines, use google and duckduckgo, google could not find an stl using the exact file name, duck showed it as the first result. For some stuff it is the other way round.
In general, all are useless.
