Langdons hans't responded to any questions regarding the role the machine at his IP plays or any security queries.
It it was a DNS issue I would think it would be an issue to some localities and not others. At no stage have I received a message that the DNS lookup failed. The failure appears to be a server time out issue. As as per Hakan's response.
Unless the OPs machine, whether hosted on site or off site, has a synced mirror of the machine hosting the forum I don't know how it helps. I don't know everything and it would be nice to find out.

Actually the delay happens a bit earlier. It takes a long time to come back from writing the request to the web server. As you can see, the IP address is resolved, a connection is established. So the network side works ok.
It takes a looooong time for the web server to acknowledge it got a request.
It all points to an issue with the server. Some overloading maybe.

Definitely noticing a lag. Also some issues with the editor messing up formatting tags.

linuxcnc.langonstaab.ca has some issues:
Your account will display "away", even when you are online.
The "remember me" checkbox in the login pane does nothing.
Also, Cloudflare isn't just DNS, it also caches files under 25MB, except HTML.
So it does reduce the load on the server a bit, at the price of delaying updates to assets.
Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow; it's intermittent.

Interestingly, when downloading just the LinuxCNC logo (top left) there is sometimes a big difference http vs https.
http: 1 sec
https: 8-15 sec
http: 1 sec

I've made a report regarding this whole debacle, maybe someone with authority can get some answers regarding security, not that anyone seems to give a shit.

WTF????
This is NOT a security issue, he is not hosting our forum, he has no access to anything except his own account on our servers, he just added another route to access our server to CloudFlare that is used by millions of users to protect from DDOS attacks and supply them with DNS services.
He just allowed us to use his DNS service.
DNS = Domain Name System = the things that converts www.linuxcnc.org that Internet has no idea what to do with, TO 69.163.143.134 that Internet can understand and route through ROOT servers to get to our server.
Think of it as a highway, our normal route is has to much traffic due to our provider having a single toll booth, LangdonS added another route with more toll booths.
-
Frankly, this is a bit to much for nothing, i am extremely paranoid about privacy and security, if it was something, no matter how small, i would have raised hell here.
Move on, thank LangdonS and move on.
I am using his DNS for two days now, and i am also logged in the normal route, the normal route times out 60% of the time, this works with a bit of lag sometimes, but works consistently.

I think someone may have the concept of DNS and routers mixed up.
I have forum.linuxcnc.org in my /etc/hosts file, so no need to use an external DNS, and I'm still getting timeouts. Hakan has even proven it's the connection to the machine running the forum software that is the issue.
And more over the OP himself won't answer any questions.
And finally, when was the last time a DNS was connected to via a FQDN ?
When you setup a static IP you assign your DNS by IP whether on your local network or on the internet, how does one connect to a DNS via a FQDN ?
Setting up a DHCP server, the DNS entry is an IP address not a FQDN.
Can you see, anyways what is the chance of a hosting service allowing you to run a Domain Name Server, can you imagine the traffic ? Bun
Anyways nowhere did the OP say "hey guys add this DNS entry to your network setup". So how is this a DNS server ?
Just think about it.

A ROOT server has nothing to do with routing.
www.iana.org/domains/root/servers
When was the last time you put the address of a Domain Name Server into a web browser ?
DNS works via port 53 not port 80, a web browser defaults to port 80 to connect to a server unless you tell it otherwise.
Would a DNS machine handle a http or https request ?
This is my point. Think about it very carefully. What is running on the machine that the OP gave a FQDN for, a webserver or DNS.
As an experiment, just use the IP the OP gave for your only DNS entry, clear the cache on your machine, so there are no cached entries locally and try and ping an internet address, say google.com, and see what happens.
I'd even bet there is no service running on port 53 at the address he gave.
