Default steplen puzzle. was created by JohnPrime
Hi all,
My mill is running quite happily on software parallel port stepping and, just for laughs, I am in the process of reproducing its config on another computer running master into a MESA 7i92; however, I see this in the existing parallel port hal-file:According to man stepgen this should give me a steplen of 1ns, which is implausible. I'm guessing that 'steplen 1' is invoking a default, but can't find out what in the docs. Where should I be looking for clues?
Many thanks,
John.

setp stepgen.0.position-scale [AXIS_0]SCALE
setp stepgen.0.steplen 1
setp stepgen.0.stepspace 1
Many thanks,
John.

"steplen 1" is used with the software stepgenerators "reset" mode where the
steplength is set by the global reset time (and not the per channel steplen parameter).

Thanks Peter, massively helpful.
I found a reference in the main LCNC pdf:
"7.3.1.4 Use steplen, stepspace, dirsetup, and/or dirhold"
All clear now
John.
