Hello everyone,

I am working on installing drivers for the nvidia graphics card on my ubuntu 12.04. I found out that the Nvidia driver does not have support for real-time kernels. But, in order to use linuxcnc I need RT kernels.
I would like to know any alternatives for installing the Nvidia drivers that are supported by the real-time kernels.
All I need is the right kind of OS for linuxcnc and good graphics support(Nvidia/AMD)

That is the enemy territory full of landmines ! :)
Both laptops that i use daily have NVIDIA besides Intel graphic cards so i can choose what to use, and for the big PC's i can choose between Nvidia 1060 or AMD RX580, but since i use Linuxcnc on all of them i have to be content with the Intel graphic on laptops and the RX580 on the big ones.
Also the R580 driver will not work with Preempt-RT, but some 3D stuff works quite nicely with the included Linux drivers, Heaven benchmark runs just fine, albeit a bit slower than it can with the proprietary drivers.

I would like to know which recent AMD GPU works with Debian 9 on a preempt-RT kernel?

My solution to the Nvidia issue would be to unplug the Nvidia card and use it in your CAM system, and keep it as far away from LinuxCNC as possible...
