Ive been searching the net for a quality 100ppr mpg handwheel for a pendant project, all I seem to be finding is cheap stuff that i just cant trust to work well or really expensive stuff over $300.00. Can anyone offer any suggestions of a quality unit at a more reasonable cost and where to get it ?

Thanks

Those look decent enough and for 20 bucks i would not mind getting 2 just in case.
Encoders very rarely fail, and this is from someone who just last month had issues with some encoders.

I have 4 of the silver ones and they feel good. I'd give them a try.

As you need more stuff around considder the xhc-hb04 complete Handheld WIRERD as it has 16 Buttons and there is a full component for it

These all look similar to the ones I use off fleabay. I wore out the spring detent mechanism pretty quickly on one. There is a rather thin stainless flat spring that pushes against a roller that clicks into the grooves. Mine fatigued and snapped. I replaced it with a home made spring. Works fine but the feel is a bit loose now after some time. Also the lines engraved on the dial do not always line up with the slot, suggesting it was not concentric during marking and the timing is often off too. The lines may line up in the vertical position and half rotation between two. If you're like me and that kind of stuff bugs you, I suggest getting a better unit otherwise they are just fine. Once installed you most likely never look at the dial and the lines anyway. The tactile feel to me is more important.

Nice job on the engraving. I did mine on the laser. Looks cool.

Meant to add, some have a horrible smell to them. The later one I ordered was fine but few years back, they used some nasty rubber for the lower gasket. I chucked that and had to make a new gasket. You know the smell. Smelled like odor you encounter when walking into tractor supply or horbor freight here in the US.

Bought a flashlight at the Dollar store a couple years ago, smelled so bad I had to leave it outdoors. Wonder if they used old motor oil as a plasticizer...
