Easy VFD upgrade was created by allenwg2005
Hi Folks,
I'm considering changing of my VFD, I'm running the Axis GUI and a Elite 3HP spindle.
What VFD would be the most straight foreword and easiest VFD to install and set-up?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the response.
I apologize, my question wasn't very clear.
I have a spindle already, I am running an old VFD that isn't supported any longer and I have to turn the spindle on and off manually.
There are a couple other down sides to my VFD so I thought I might look into something newer.
I was looking through the manual the other day dealing with a different issue and noticed instruction on how to set-up a Huanyang VFD, that got me thinking about this question.

I can't imagine an old VFD that Linuxcnc can't control. You might have to use an analog signal to set the speed, but Linuxcnc can do that.

Thinking back (a number of years now), I did manage to get the spindle to start and stop with MIDI commands M3 M5, it got incredibly frustrating to try and "scale" the RPM.
The company who now owns the this product line has little or no background knowledge of the older unit, so I gave up on the whole idea.
I was just hoping I could locate and install something that's supported to get this to work.
All kinds of choices out there, I just want to make sure I don't end up creating a new mess while trying to clean up an old one.
Maybe that's wishful thinking.

The Huanyang VFDs with "modbus" control and the HY_vfd HAL component work well for me.
