g code preview was created by j.clark91
Hello everyone,
I am very new to linux cnc just converted from mach3,
i've managed to get it working and run the basic code that it comes with and some of my own, so ive set my g54 location and everything works fine.
turned off come back a day later to play with trying to get the tool sensor to work(not having much luck there at the mo) and noticed
the g54 location on the preview screen was way off from the day before. went into MDI ran G0 G90 G54 X0. Y0. and it went to the same place as before, but while running program it says its gonna over travel so wont run?
anyone got any ideas why its done this?
thank you in advance

Do you have home switches?
Did you home the machine each time?
If the program tries to move outside the red boundary lines then linuxcnc refuses to run.

Thank you for replying, yes the machine has homing switches and been is homed every time it’s turned on and off,
It’s confusing as it moved to the correct position in MDI but the preview window shows the datum too close to the edge,
I’ve deleted the offsets in the var file and reset the datum then turned it off and on and it worked okay so not sure why it went wrong
