I currently use the Axis GUI as it does everything I need it to do as a beginner/novice. Is there a better suited interface/GUI for lasers?

I don't see any reason why not. There is still some debate on the best way to control laser power (spindle speed, Z axis, M67 all have plusses and minuses)
