Which Version for new pc was created by paulstenlund
Just got a new PC to replace the one that died, which version of Linuxcnc do you suggest I put on it

For what use?
For everything but Plasma, use the official 2.8.2 ISO in the downloads section of the main LinuxCNC page.
www.linuxcnc.org/iso/linuxcnc-2.8.2-buster.iso

For plasma, if you want the latest and greatest, the QtPlasmaC is in 2.9, so the installation is a bit more involved.
The how to for 2.9 after we get the answer.

Can't install 2.8.2 from usb stick, it wants cd . How can I get around that?

When it asks for CD, remove USB, wait 10 seconds, insert USB, wait 10 seconds, continue as usual.
