5i25 firmware version and SSerial errors? was created by pferrick
Hi all-
I'm still chasing some random (?), infrequent, but very aggravating SSerial errors and I recall a while back that PCW (I think) mentioned that a version of the 5i25 firmware was released that was more 'tolerant' (my word) in this regard. However, I'm not sure what version I currently have...! I've attached the result of running: mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid
And yes (since I know someone is going to ask!) I am also working on running wires differently, grounding more effectively, and putting ferrite chokes here and there to reduce EMI as much as possible.
Thanks,
Patrick

I'm not sure you can tell the version so probably the easiest thing would be
to just to reflash the 5I25 (with 5i25_7i76x2.bit or 5i25_7i76x2d.bit)
The change was made quite a long time ago so it is likely you have the latest
Typical causes of sserial errors on the 7I76 or 7I77 are ground bumping caused
by HF noise currents flowing in the parallel cable, so isolating noise sources
with common mode chokes can help

Thanks for the quick answer! It appears that the firmware version you suggested would support two 7i76 boards...is that correct?
I do have a second 7i76 installed, but I wasn't planning on connecting if for a while. Will this firmware work OK with only one 7i76 hanging off the 5i25?
regards,
Patrick

This is the same configuration ( your original firmware was for 2x 7I76's also )
