request for pic or drawing for pncconf help page was created by cmorley
I'm hoping To replace the diagram on the pnccnof help page.
I need either a pic of a small mill clearly showing the limit switches
or a better drawing.
The same for a lathe would be great as well.
ideally i would like to show a real world limit switch set up
and show axis movement designations.
Not sure if showing all axis is needed or just one axis clearly.
the original diagram just ... sucks
Opinions? Donations?
Thanks Chris M

Hi Chris,
I have not looked at Pncconf in a while and man you have been busy, it is really getting polished up. I really like the interface with drop down boxes so your screen is not cluttered up. Yes the diagram kinda sucks. I suspect that a drawing would be best as all of my CNC machines the limit switches are partially or completely hidden from view. You might consider adding a firmware tab to your help screen...
Opps I did get a Segmentation fault running the latest 2.5
pncconf:4126: Warning: g_value_unset: assertion `G_IS_VALUE (value)' failed
dummy, index = signaletree.get(piter,0,1)
Gotta run...
John

While this is a good indicator of how most limit switches are physically laid out, I really would like a recognizable representation of the whole machine too.
The diagram is also supposed to indicate the standard directions of positive and negative movement. ( pncconf's current pic only shows X directions)
I may be trying to add too much info on one diagram.
Thanks for the sample.
I am also hoping a user may chime in and mention what info would help them with limit switches and axis direction designations.
There is quite a lot of trouble with configuring limit switches.

Thinking something like this;
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Milling_machi...al,_Manual%29_NT.PNG
That I could add limit switches and axis directions to.
I'm not sure i can use that pic In EMC (copyright) nor if that is the best pic for CNC.
Also if I actually draw the limit switches on the pic it'll probably look horrible - i suck at that sorta thing.

This is the best ides of what I'm looking for- adding the limit switches will still be clear.
Just don't know the copyright

I actually have a 3-D mill drawn up somewhere... the lathe is pretty straightforward, but the mill can get complicated if not a standard type of mill. Let me see what I can come up with... if it don't get to complicated and make things more confusing.
Can you add a separate tab for lathe and mill limit switch example?
John
