Forward btn on Axis config stays gray was created by jgnoss
Hi,
I just installed EMC2 2.5 using apt.
now I try to configure a XYZA machine. XYZ goes fine but on config A the Forward button doesn't turn from gray to active.
So I cannot finish the config.
Parameters i choose on that page:
Driver Type: L297
rapid following error: 0.005
feed following error : 0.005
Stepper scale : 0.111
max. velocity : 100
max accel : 2.0
Any Help?
thanks
Ju

OK, I figured out that, when I open the calculate scale Window and I do some changes there,
the values for
Pulse rate at max speed
Motor RPM at max speed
doesn't change.
maybe that dialog needs some tweaks made by a programmer.

when manually entering the stepper scale you must press return or else use the scale dialog.
did you press return ?

I didn't enter stepper scale manually, I used the "Calculate Scale" Button.
Now I tried enter it manually, but same result.
But as I mentioned before, the window that opens on pressing the "Calculate Scale" Button doesn't update the values shown in
Pulse rate at max speed: 0.0kHz
Motor RPM at max speed: 0RPM
Fields
neither on manual change nor on changing it using the tiny arrows.
Now I played a bit around with that dialog, and it is as I thought of.
only when I make a hook on Pulley teeth and click a ratio 1:10
the
Motor RPM at max speed: field shows 2 RPM
and the forward button in the Main window turns black to go on with configuration
All that happens only on the A-Axis (that's a axis in degrees)
by the way that happens on installed version

hmm so far I can't make this happen.
the pulse rate max speed and motor max speed is just for info - it is not used by pncconf.
I'm not sure thats wrong yet. can you make a config without the A axis?

If I choose only XYZ on the very begin of the config, Yes, pncconfig runs til the end and the machine works with 3 axis.
As I wrote above, I get it also to run with A-Axis when I hook on

then field
Motor RPM at max speed: field shows 2 RPM
and I can finish the config.
Can you give me your some details about your favorite machine and software setup?
I run this on a Pentium4 2.5GHz with 1.5GB RAM
Ubuntu 10.04
Kernel 2.6.32.122-rtai
it was an original install from the live CD with several updates made with Ubuntu's update manager
Now updated to EMC2 2.5 using that description on buildbot.linuxcnc.org/

Ahh yes I found the problem currently PNCconf does not allow a scale less then 1.
I will fix this soon.

Does a scale of .111 make sense?
please explain your A axis motor and gear ratios.
