Thanks for posting help - always nice when I read the forum and someone else has pointed out the solution, after they have been helped.
It's a great community.

I opened the file and the indentations are all the same. Could it be something else.
also when I run the linuxcnc and try to enable I get :
joint 0 on limit switch error
joint 2 on limit switch error
I have lookd at the limit signals from the hal configuration window and watch them turn from yellow to red as they are tripped so I know they are working.
Thanks! in advance for your help

ok so what's the error in pncconf? ( you can ignore the warnings )
or are you talking error in linuxcnc?
limit switch errors usually means u need to invert the inputs.

I have a error pncconf when trying to enable servos as follows
File"usr/bin/pncconf",line 9334, in on_enableamp_toggled self.update_axis_params()
file "/usr/bin/pncconf", line 9304, in update_axis_params halrun.flush()
IOError:[Errno 32] broken pipe
So I am unable to test my servos in open loop
And when I run linuxcnc I get the following when I try to start:
joint 0 on limit switch error
joint 2 on limit switch error
File"usr/bin/pncconf",line 9334, in on_enableamp_toggled self.update_axis_params()

If you run PNCconf from a terminal, It will show more detail about the error.
from what info you have given I can't diagnose the problem. Those error message are very general.
As I said, the joint limit error are from the backward logic ( I assume the switches are not closed when the error occurs)
You can invert the logic in PNCcong on the page you selected the limit switches on, There is a checkbox

OK I'll try that tonight. I'm not sure if I can go any futher. I was wanting to see if I had the amps wired right as they are the orignal GE and I didn't have and wiring diagram. I tried to run the amps with some jumpers wires and ended up smoking the z amp. I'm bidding on some AMC's. I used them on my first mill and they worked great. Hopfully I will have something in a couple days. I'll get back to you when I have everthing wired. thanks for your help.

New amps showed up. I went and inverted the limits in PNCConf and that got rid of the Limit error however the servos are still not working. Ran out of time. Im going to download the 2.5 from the buildbot tonight to see if that helps. I do have one question pertaining to the servo enable switchs. My AMC amps are ground to inhibit and open to run. can the enable switch inverted?

No, the enables can only be 'on' for enable
(otherwise they would have to be 'on' without power which is tough for an OPTO isolator)
I would use a small relay with a NC contact for all inhibit lines, driven by a 7I77 field output
