5i25 pin confusion was created by gandalf69
I tried this from message 21633:

halrun
loadrt hostmot2
loadrt hm2_pci
exit
dmesg

and part of what I got was this:

[ 116.845757] hm2/hm2_5i25.0: IO Pin 017 (P2-01): IOPort
[ 116.845759] hm2/hm2_5i25.0: IO Pin 018 (P2-14): IOPort
[ 116.845761] hm2/hm2_5i25.0: IO Pin 019 (P2-02): IOPort
[ 116.845763] hm2/hm2_5i25.0: IO Pin 020 (P2-15): IOPort
[ 116.845765] hm2/hm2_5i25.0: IO Pin 021 (P2-03): IOPort
[ 116.845767] hm2/hm2_5i25.0: IO Pin 022 (P2-16): IOPort
[ 116.845769] hm2/hm2_5i25.0: IO Pin 023 (P2-04): IOPort

but 5i25man.pdf says:

P2 PIN FUNCTION
1 IO17
2 IO18
3 IO19
4 IO20
5 IO21
6 IO22
7 IO23
8 IO24

(I can't format this, the IOs should be under FUNCTION)

Presumably something is wrong but having been assured that the 5i25man is the latest information I am reluctant to guess. If someone can explain this discrepancy I'd appreciate it.

5i25man.pdf also refers to 5i25IO.PIN on the non-existant distribution disc.
I have not found 5i25IO.PIN anywhere.

Are you using the 5i25 without a daughter card?

P2 is the secondary connector which is a 26 pin male 0.1" pitch header

The manual pinout is correct for the 26 pin header.

The hostmot2 driver lists pins in their DB25 order which is different
from header pin order but probably most useful for daughtercard connections
since almost all daughtercards (mesa or otherwise) will use a DB-25 connector

header --> DB25:

1 --> 1
2 --> 14
3 --> 2
4 --> 15
5 --> 3
6 --> 16
7 --> 4
8 --> 17
9 --> 5

etc

Thanks.
In that case the references to (P2- ) of the 5i25 in:

[ 116.845757] hm2/hm2_5i25.0: IO Pin 017 (P2-01): IOPort
[ 116.845759] hm2/hm2_5i25.0: IO Pin 018 (P2-14): IOPort

etc appear to be incorrectly described.

JT, a 7i77 is connected to P3 of the 5i25 and powered.
There is nothing connected to 5i25 P2.
I'm just trying to make sense of the pin descriptions and numbers

Since the second connector is intended to be used
with a a DB25 daughtercard, I think the pinout that the driver reports
is the best one (that is the most most useful one)

But I will update the manual so it shows both header
and DB25 pins for P2

Gotcha. They can be confusing, I have to ask Peter...
