hostmot2 driver for 7i80 is working but still needs few weeks for stabilisation. In few days I'll create wiki page how to install and test this driver and test it yourself.

The only difference is FPGA size.
(XC6SLX16 vs XC6SLX25 FPGA chip)

Unless you have a very complicated machine
the 7I80-25 is overkill for LinuxCNC applications

What is the actual situation of the 7i80 card ?

How long it takes to get 7i80 card driver stable ?

Thanks

We haven't pushed this too hard because we are waiting for the Xenomai version (well multi RT version really) of LinuxCNC to get stabilized. The 7I80HD,7I80DB, 7I76E and 7I77E will not be supported by the RTAI based kernels (It was decided early on that this was too much work)

Hi PCW.
Ok ....
I hope this will be soon .
The market trend is to use ethernet for realtime connections with devices for I/O and motion applications .
I clearly understand that this is not a standardized "bus" frame as Profinet, EtherCAT, SercosIII, EthernetIP and so on .
But it can give flexibility to the hardware connection from PC to motion hardware modules (7I80 ... ).
Keep us updated please .
