The 7I77 spindle control _must_ be on channel 5,
its the only individually settable enable.
(channels 0..4 are enabled or disabled all at once in hardware)

I understand that. But it looks like PnCConf doesn't use spinena pin and the spindle can not be tested from PnCConf.

if you use a GPIO for enable and your spindle drive ignores the analog signal when the enable is false then you can use any channel.
It just wastes a pin.

Is there any other reason you must use channel 5?

The main issues is that it makes a logical connection between spindle-on and axis enable that you may not want.

Also the enable OPTO is more flexible than the field I/O in that it works with any voltage and can source or sink as desired (VFDs often have ground-to-enable inputs).

Since theres no disadvantage in using channel 5 for spindle control and there are disadvantages to using analogena for this (analogenea controls axis 0..4), I cant see any reason to use anything but channel 5 for spindle control on the 7I77 as it was intended. (actually we would have preferred individual enables but ran out of uProc pins)

I pushed a fix for the spindle enable problem to 2.5.3 and master.
Thanks for the report.
