.pin .bit .xml File 5i25 + 7i76 + 7i85s was created by flyhigh79
Hi,
i plan to set up my machine with a MESA 5i25 a 7i76 and an 7i85S. on searching around on the MESA website i found some configurations.
but for my setup i only found a .pin-file (7i76_7885s.pin) and a .bit-file (7i76_7i85s.bit) but no xml.
what are the files used for?
.bit = firmware (my 5i25 is already flashed with 7i76_7i85s)
.xml=configuration-file for PnCConfWizard?
.pin?
is there any easy way to generate the missing xml from the existing pin-file?
bye and THX florian

freeby.mesanet.com/7i76_7i85s.xml
Note there is no guarantee that this will work with pncconf without some fiddling
Currently these xml files are generated from a utility that reads the card info

the 7i85 is not available in pncconf.
I need to add the pin names and logic for it.
(I don't have the pinnames )

Hello,
i found the files here: www.mesanet.com/software/parallel/5i25.zip
i thought for PnCConf i just need the xml copied to the right place? do i also need the pin-file?
here i packed them - - if i'm done with the hardware (i hope this is on monday) i'll try and report if it works
bye Florian

my LinucCNC PC was build last Weekend - Setting UP und Updating LinuxCNC 2.5.3 was no Problem - PCW's XML worked! i had only some small Problems with PnCConf.
After selecting the 7i76_7i85s Firmaware in the Config page i selected 1 SmartSerial Port but this wasn't activated as a "7i76 Mode 0 I/O Card" on P3 as it does e.g. on selecting the 7i76x2 firmware. So i had to change "unused Cannel" to "7i76 Mode 0 I/O Card" manually -> so it was no big problem... (the funny thing was: after selecting the 7i76x2 firmware it was also activated automatically in with the 7i76_7i85s firmware...
next thing was the assignment of the Encoders...
On setting "Num of Encoders" in the cofiguration Page to 0 -> 0 Encoders are activated;
Setting up 1 encoder in the Config page -> 2 Encoders are possible on P3
2 in Config -> 2 on P3
3 in Config -> 2 on P3 and 2 on P2
4 in Confg -> 2 on P3 and 2 on P2
5 in Config -> 2 on P3 and 3 on P2
6 in Config -> 2 on P3 and 4 on P2
so i thought on the 7i76 (P3) is only one Encoder and on the 7i85 are 4 encoders -> Since i want to use 4 Encoders on the 7i85 i'll set up 6 Encoders with PnCConf und remove the first two manually from the hal/ini... so PnCConf and the 76i76_7i85s.xml worked for setting up the basics and i'll have enough time edit the missing options manually.
THX and bye

The encoder numbers are a bit odd because I dont think the current hm2 driver gets
along with mixes of muxed and unmuxed encoders so the7I76 get a muxed encoder
even though physically it only has a single unmuxed encoder:
enc.0 7I76 encoder
enc.1 7I76 dummy encoder
enc.2 7I85 encoder 0
enc.3 7i85 encoder 1
enc.4 7i85 encoder 2
enc.5 7i85 encoder 3

enc.0 7I76 encoder
enc.1 7I76 dummy encoder
enc.2 7I85 encoder 0
enc.3 7i85 encoder 1
enc.4 7i85 encoder 2
enc.5 7i85 encoder 3
