Hello,
I m upgrading my mill from USB-CNC to EMC

My configuration:

AS-Rock AD2550B-ITX
Mesa 5i25 with 7i76 and 7i85s
Leadshine DM556

I flashed the 5i25 with 5i25_7i76_7i85s.bit and made a folder lib/firmware/hm2/5i25/5i25_7i76_7i85s.xml
PnCConf worked, for testing I configured the X-Axis and X-Home switch.
Wiring: DM556 DIR- and STEP- to 7i76 Ground, DM556 DIR+ and STEP+ to 7i76 DIR 0 + and STEP 0 +, ENA left unconnected the DM556 is enabled with 0 Volts on ENA+. The 7i76 is powered through the 5i25 .

My problem is the stepper is not working, the home switch works.
As i tried it again, I get an error "unexpected realtime delay"

Thanks in advance,

regards

Markus

I would tackle the real time delays first. Since there is only a servo thread at 1 KHz,
a real time delay means that your latency is greater than ~200 usec

The D2550 should be capable of much better

So the first thing I would do is disable hyperthreading and
_all_ power management in the BIOS (anything about idle, C states Speed step etc)

and then run the latency test while "torturing" the machine with large file copies, running glxgears, running you-tube videos etc

Thank you for your fast response, after disabling the suggested points, I ran the latency test (see attachement), the results were not to bad.
Then I startet AXIS and immedeatly after the window popped up I got get an error "unexpected realtime delay".
I started AXIs again, then I could move the x-Axis with Manual control, but without a working steppermotor.

Best regards

If you can move the axis without a joint following error that means that LInuxCNC is communicating with the
5I25 stepgens correctly

If your drives dont step I would try adding some margins to the step times
(drive specifications are _minimum_ times, that is just on the edge of not working)

As far as the real time delays goes, maybe something here will help:
wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Troubl...ck_dmesg_for_details
Though a lot of those suggestions are not appropriate for newer motherboards

It may be that your motherboard is just not suited for realtime use

Thank you for your support, the stepper is now moving. I still have the real time problems, i will try another motherboard.
Best regards

If it is just one error when Axis is starting then it might be acceptable. The problem is that the message only displays once, so you don't know how often the problem occurs.

You can set up a halmeter on the motion.servo.overruns parameter and see if that keeps increasing. If it does, then there is a genuine problem.
(halmeter is in the "machine" menu, or can be started from the command line with "halcmd loadusr halmeter param motion.servo.overruns"

I tried the halmeter today , the parameter increases... I will get a new mother board next week.
Thank you for your support.

Hello Markus !!
What about your AS-Rock AD2550B-ITX motherboard?
Is working, or You replace it with the other?

I plan to buy this board for my router.

Thanks for reply
