5i25-7i76 unable to get this working was created by stevestice
Hi
I am unable to get a usable configuration from pncconf. I keep getting the same errors. Screen shot from 8-22-15 is a mill config, from 8-23-15 a lathe.
5i25 is suppling 5 volts. 24volt field power on7i76. I have been reading the manuals and posts. all jumpers are up on the 5i25. all jumpers are left on the 7i76. TB3 on the 7i76 has 5 volts. I have a Intel D525MW motherboard. I have installed the latest version of linuxcnc and upgraded to 2.6.9. I have been away from this for about 3 years and I am re learning linux. This is my first try with the mesa cards. I am still going with step/dir and steppers for now, but plan on moving on to servos later.
Thanks Steve

Please attach the configs, preferably zip the whole config folder.
Cut and paste the errors into a txt file, screenshots are not much use.
The second error may well just be because the driver did not unload properly after the first error, if you are using the same computer, so a red-herring.
The first error says it could not find the hostmot driver, is it at the location shown or is it missing?
regards

One of the screenshots indicates that the 5I25 was not found
can you run this command:
lspci -v > pcidevs.txt
and post the the pcidevs.txt file here?

Yep, no 5i25 found (you might try with no 7I76 connected since a mis-jumpered combination can also cause issues)
Are all LEDS off on the 5I25 after power up? (there should be no LEDs on after a brief blink at power-on)
If the LEDS are all off (OK) the most common issue is a dirty PCI slot so cleaning the
5I25 contact fingers and motherboard slot is the next thing to try

There are no LED's on after power up. Two of them flash at power up.
I will try cleaning and no 7I76
Thanks

Hmm not good, so either a bad PCI slot or a failed 5I25
(W5 down would do this but I doubt that you have moved it)

all jumpers are up on the 5I25. I have another D525MW motherboard. I will switch them and see what happens.
Thanks
