5i25-7i77+7i74 was created by Niko
Hello,
I am trying to get this setup working propperly . The 7i77 started right away, but I can't find the 7i74 in the HAL config . In the 5i25 manual it says there is a supplied configuration for that but it does not show up .
Where can I find the configs and where to put them?

Thank you in advance

The 7I74 is just a RS-422 interface board so will not show up anywhere (its not discoverable)
to use a 7I77 and 7I74 you need

1. FPGA card with 7I77/7I74 firmware
2. Enable at least sserial_port_1 with the proper driver command line option
3. One or more sserial remotes connected to the 7I74

(assuming this is for sserial remotes on the 7I74)

Forgot to say you find the configs in the 5i25.zip file from Mesa
the configurations (bitfiles) end in .bit

These must be flashed into the 5I25 using the mesaflash utility

Hello,
I changed the firmware yesterday and after opening port 1 the IO boards are found . But the 77 comunication is failing . When I start the cnc it gives errors 13 and 3 . Fault count on port 0 is 0x000000CF and port state is 0x00000000 while on port 1 state is 0x00000001 and no errors . It does that even without the 74 .

P.S.
dmesg shows Warning: sserial remote device 7i70 channel 0 has old firmware that should be updated . Same story for 71
And also this : In recent history there were
[ 3723.613574] 2978350, 3056574, 2794074, 3067579, and 3071363
[ 3723.613582] elapsed clocks between calls to the motion controller.
[ 3723.613607] This time, there were 3359299 which is so anomalously
[ 3723.613615] large that it probably signifies a problem with your
[ 3723.613623] realtime configuration. For the rest of this run of
[ 3723.613631] LinuxCNC, this message will be suppressed.

I should add that the PC used now will be changed for a propper fanless motherboard with the right processor .

Yes .
power is applied to the boards even before the PC gets 120 VAC supply .

P.S. Since you mentioned power i restarted everything and it's working now . It only complains about 7i70 and 7i71 firmware .

P.S.2 It doesn't always start and sometimes it stops suddenly.

Right now things are pointing at the severely overheating CPU .

Today I recieved the new motherboard and got the PC working and upgraded to LCNC 2.7 . At first everything started up and worked fine . After 10 minutes it stopped for no apparent reason . I found this error :
Smart Serial Error: port 0 channel 0. You may see this error if the FPGA card read thread is not running. This error message will not repeat. . I changed the cable from 5i25 to the 77 but it didn't help .
Is it possible that the 77 is damaged ?

I assume that the hm2_5i25.0.read function is running?

How can I check?

encoders are reading and the remote inputs on port1 work .

If you open a terminal window and type (I think)
"halcmd show thread" then you should see the execution time of the hm2_5i25.read function changing every time you run the command.
I might be remembering wrongly, and you might want "halcmd show funct"

However, if inputs are working then it seems that the read function is running.
