mesa 7i76 and gs2 vfd setup question was created by calvin.d
The computer I am using to run my mill does not have a serial port
I am using a 5i25 and 7i76 to run the machine
is it possible to run the rs232 or rs485 connection to the GS2 vfd through the mesa 7i76 board
this would be an ideal solution so i do not need to add a usb-rs232 or 485 adapter to the system
how much of the serial vfd config made by pncConf would be reusable
Thank You for all the help

No (for practical purposes).
The hardware exists, so with a different firmware on the 7i76 (which you would need to write) and a different driver for LinuxCNC (which you would need to write) it could be done.
Much simpler to use the built in VFD control terminals on the 7i76 (enable / dir and digital potentiometer).
Alternatively, the USB to RS485 adaptors can be used.
