PncConf and backlash was created by BruceSherry
Maybe this isn't a great idea, but my machine has some backlash, and I am trying to compensate for it.
I have a 5i25 with an MX3660. My problem is that on each axis that I put backlash compensation on, the STEPGEN_MAXVEL and STEPGEN_MAXACCEL terms do not appear in the .ini file that pncconf creates. This causes linuxcnc to crash complaining about the missing values.
I would think turning on backlash compensation shouldn't cause linuxcnc to crash. I can manually put them in, but it seems like a bug in pncconf to me.

Are you setting up backlash comp inside PnCConf, or separately? If PnCConf allows you to configure it there, and then creates a non-running config, then that sounds like a bug.
However, if you are manually adding backlash comp to the INI then it doesn't seem too unreasonable to have to make changes in more than one place.

That was adding in the backlash from inside PnCConf, and it does create a non-running config.
I have backlash set on X and Y, both of which don't get the STEPGEN terms, but on Z, which doesn't have backlash configured,it generates them properly.

It might be worth raising it as a bug on the tracker:

(I assume that you have hand-edited your config and are now running?)

I suppose I should register for the GITHUB, but I haven't.
I have edited the .ini file, such that the machine works, just in time for a 7i76 to show up, and require that I do everything all over again.
