It looks like you might have an (invisible) .axisrc file in your home folder.
ls -a
Will list all files, including invisible ones.
If the file exists, then rename it and try again. If it doesn't exist, something more interesting is going on.

That is the error you get when you choose the "full screen" option in the pncconf. Deleting the .axisrc file should get rid of it, but you might need to run pncconf again, not choosing the full screen option this time and choosing to modify an existing config.
