Hello all,
i bought 6i24-16 + 7i52S + 7i37 and have now the biggest troubles (after days of search in google)
since i dont have a bit-file, i install ISE design suite 14.7 and i think, i build a bit-file, which i can upload in the card.
but with pncconf, there is no way to setup the card.
i can not choose 6i24 or 5i24.
i try also the tip to use a 5i20 + predifend software. so i got the encoders and the steppers.
but the steppers on interface 3, which is worng
any ideas, where i can find a tutorial or a manual, how i must change which files, thet i can configure ist?
or where i can find the fitting files?
electronic greetings from Vienna/Austria
Andreas

I dont think pncconf can help much here except making a basic hal file which will then have
to be hand edited
The stepgen/encoder setup in the hal file should be correct except for
stepgen polarity options (they would be on the wrong GPIO pins)

but if i understand linuxCNC and the tools around it correct, pncconf is the only way to make a good setup for the timing for the stepper motors (acceleration and max speed and ....?

Not at all, you will almost always have to hand edit hal files to get final details right / added features you need
Also, the stepper settings (with the exception of polarity settings) created by pncconf will work on _any_
firmware (you just need to know where stepgen 0,1,2,3 etc connect on your hardware)

It seems odd that there is no firmware for the 6i24, but the link on mesanet goes nowhere
www.mesanet.com/software/parallel/6i24.zip
However you can almost certainly use the 5i24 firmware.

In fact, I am using a 6i24 so firmware must exist

What is the firmware version on the bag of the 6i24 you got? I can see if I have an XML and bit file for it so you can put it in the hm2 folder to use the pncconf.
