PnCConf Mesa 7i76e pin mapping was created by larry_no11
Hi,
I just got a Mesa 7i76e card, and I cannot figure out what the pin mapping is between PnCConf's Pin numbers and 7i76e's pins.
Right now I am trying to get TB6 Output pin 7 to be high (for testing purposes). I have tried setting that pin to 'Force Pin True' and 'GPIO Output', but it doesn't seem to work.
I have attached a screen shot of my PnCConf configuration tab.
Can someone help me understand how the pin numbering works in the PnCConf?
Much appreciated,
Larry

All of the pins on that screen refer to the pins used for step/dir on the 7i76. (They can be used for GPIO when not used for step/dir.) The 32 input and 16 output field io points can only be seen if the 7i76e is plugged in and properly powered up.
Are you sure you've properly configured the Ethernet connection to the 7i76e? Are you running a version of Linux with a Preempt-RT kernel?

I am running the latest linuxcnc, with a preempt-rt kernel.
The board was powered on when I launched PnCConf (and it seemed to be connected, as I could use tune motor in the later parts).
Side note:
My stepper is working ok. The stepper moves as expected when I launch LinuxCNC (or use PnCConf's tune motor).

On a 7I76E, you do not typically use GPIO for coolant etc but rather the 7I76E's field I/O
The field outputs have names like:
hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.output-00
and field inputs have names like:
hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-00
and
hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-00-not
The field outputs have names like:
hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.output-00
and field inputs have names like:
hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-00
and
hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-00-not

Can I configure field output and field input from PnCConf?

Manually editing the hal file with:
setp hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.output-00 true
works, but I would like to be able to set this in PnCConf, is that possible?

works, but I would like to be able to set this in PnCConf, is that possible?

That pic is not right for the 7i76e - there should be another tab showing - 7i76 i/o ss#0
And that is where you select the field i/o .
What version of linuxcnc are you using and what does the configuration tab look like?

Shouldn't the number of smart serial ports be set to 1 (near the bottom of that screen?

Yes! Setting the smart serial ports to 1 gives me the 'i/o ss#0' tab.
Thanks for the help!
