I believe that is a smart serial communication error.
IIRC that can be cable problems, marginal power supply problems...

But Peter from Mesa or Andy could probably advise better.

Almost always the "DoIt not cleared" error is cause by latency issues on the host PC

To verify this, run the command:

halcmd show param *.tmax

This will show the individual and total ( servo-thread.tmax ) times used by LinuxCNCs real time functions. These times are in CPU clocks, to get an idea of the total clocks time per servo thread period, look at motion.servo.last-period

Also what host PC hardware are you running? If you have a Intel or Qualcom MAC you must make some driver setting adjustments with the ethtool utility

Hmm halcmd show param works for me:

peter@dc7800:~/hostmot2/sslbp$ halcmd show param *.tmax
Parameters:

You say 'try setup before install'. Are you running 'live', booting from a CD or USB? It's been quite some time, but I recall having certain errors when running live, which cleared up once installed. You can install LinuxCNC along with Windows, dual boot. It's worth a try!

Hello PCW,

recently I updated my config at my 7i76E setup and switched from a J1900 Celeron with a wheezy installation to a Dell Optiplex System with an I3-2120 CPU and a stretch rt-preemt config.
This was nice until i get the same rt error messages like the author "steos"

Because you mentioned it before

If you have a Intel or Qualcom MAC you must make some driver setting adjustments with the ethtool utility

and as I am now using a "Intel Corporation 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 04)" I want to ask if you can give some more details on it.

Thank you for your help!

EDIT:
I think I might have already found the solution here:

for Intel Chipsets you need to turn off IRQ coalescing by :

sudo ethtool -C ethN rx-usecs 0

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. But my avg ping times to the 7i76e already went down to ~0.1ms which is about 1/3 of the times without that setting.

Take a look at the hm2_eth manual page. Its has instructions
for editing the interfaces file to setup the static IP on the host
and turn off the irq coalescing option on the driver (this option will
add a lot of latency to Ethernet communications and needs to be disabled)

man hm2_eth
