Hi ,
Totally new to linux CNC. Before trying to build a 3 axis machine I wanted to get started with electrical and software part and understand everything. I got
1. Two boards (5i25 and 7i76,
2. One stepper motor and drive ( both from same manufacturer).
3. 24 V power supply for the 7i76 board.
4. 72 V power supply for the Stepper drive.
5. Installed the latest version Linux CNC.
I did all wiring connections from reading various posts and completed the PnC Conf . I am unable get the motor rotating. I am not sure what I am missing.
Also as i have read in various posts should I download 5i25 xml files and install them first before i start the PnC Conf.
Any Help would be appreciated.

Unless you have a uncommon configuration,
you don't need to download any xml files
A couple common step motor drive problems:
1. Step drive not enabled (do the motors lock their shafts when powered?)
2. Step/dir swapped or misc wiring errors
3. Step time too short (use 5 us = 5000 ns unless it limits your maximum speed)
