Yeah, 50 us is not going to work for a servo thread on almost any hardware
The default servo thread period is 1 ms =1000000 ns
There's usually not much to gain with faster servo thread unless:
1. You have extremely quick acceleration (> 1G for laser plotter etc)
2. You have torque mode drives so the velocity loop must be implemented in
LinuxCNC
3. You have requirement of very high speed and combined high accuracy
