5v for Mesa 7i76 was created by Desertboy
Can I use the 5v from a USB on the PC?

Or should I get a dedicated 5v one in which case what amps?

I have a few 2 amp usb chargers any good?

Thanks

you may not even need a 5v power supply. Can you tell us more?

Normally the 7I76 should be setup to get 5V power from the FPGA card
(and the FPGA card setup to supply 5V power)

The 5v for the step

As Peter said, the 5 volt comes from an onboard step down regulator if you set the links as per the manual.

Plus I have stolen 5 volt from the Mesa for other uses. Like powering a thcad or using stepper drive enable signals.
