Gecko driver 214V and 7i75 breakout card was created by kevin19
Hello, I am Kevin,
I am quite new to linux cnc, I am actually using a 4 stepper motor machine and the fpga card is the mesa 6i25 with a 7i75 breakout card and the gecko drivers used are the G214V. I would like to create a virtual cnc machine, so for that I wanted to do the pncconf wizard as am not using the parallel port. I think for the card I can select 5i25 but what configuration should I chose for the drivers and the breakout card?
Thank you for your help,
Kevin

There is no need for a virtual machine.
Choose 5i25 and configure same as for a break out board, use the settings for "other" drives till you get things working, later you can tweak them if there is need for it.
But first do check what firmware is already in the card with :
mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid

A vm can have problems with precise micro-timing. I would not try that for real machine.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I am working in distance without the card which is in the lab but yeah I will flash the card once i get it. And how can I configure the 4th axis Z+ which is a precision axis and which should be on the Z axis and not separately ?

And which driver type should I chose as I am using a Gecko GR214V driver?
Thank you for your help.

As I don't have the mesa card with me, I would like to create a virtual machine to just see how it works with the 4 XYZZ axis and the whb04 pendant. I would like to know how to do it. I did the pncconfig and I am attaching the ''hal'' and ''ini'' file to this message. And when I launch the file after the pnc configuration, I get the following error message put in attachment.
