laser add on to gantry mill

Thanks for the response PCW I do understand that part, what I don't understand is how to use that output with motion.analog-00-out, I have read tommylights code (and others) and all are using software generated PWM signals and have access to a PWM output prior to feeding it to a physical pin whereas the 5i25 PWM output is straight to a physical pin.
I am probably missing something obvious here, but I'm just not seeing it.

The PWM speed control for my spindle is connected like this..
net spindle-vel-cmd-rpm => hm2_5i25.0.pwmgen.00.value
and it is turned on and off via
net spindle-enable => hm2_5i25.0.pwmgen.00.enable
so I have indirect control of the output but no direct control.
Please tell me what I am missing here, I'm starting to feel embarrassed by this.

net laser_pwm <= motion.analog-00-out => hm2_5i25.0.pwmgen.01.value

thanks PCW, I tried exactly that and checked halmeter and saw it was doing what I wanted but the laser did not fire, which is why I thought I was missing something.
I appreciate everyone's patience with me and I will give this another go as soon as the cable adapter arrives for P2
