Can someone tell me if a single ended spindle encoder on a 7i77d connects A - N/C - Ground - B - N/C - 5V - Index - N/C  also W22, W20 and W18 jumpers left position. If not then how?

Thank You!

Firstly, W22 W20 and W18 are for encoder #3. I would suggest to use encoder #5 (W9, W7, W3) instead since the servo enable output ENA5 is independent, while the others are all switched in common. (see manual p.14)

Then yes, the 3 corresponding jumpers should be set on the left side for single ended encoders. You will then connect the encoder same as you you wrote. This is A out to QAn (Again QA5 suggested for spindle encoder), encoder B out goes to QBn on the 7i77, index goes to IDXn. Except that /QAn,  /QBn and /IDXn on the 7i77 are left unconnected. are connected to gnd.  You will also connect the +5v and GND from the 7i77 to their respective encoders (ONLY for encoder power)

A+/gnd
B+/gnd
I+/gnd

Nothing to 5 V, except encoder power.

I got it sorted out, thanks for the help. They really should put page 14 at the beginning of the connections, not after, I never read more than I need to!
