Hi All,
This is my first post.
I have been using Linuxcnc for a few years on my homemade plasma cutter xyz table. For various reasons I have upgraded from parallel port to a Mesa 7i96s , using Bookworm ( Kernel: 6.1.0-7-rt-amd64  Desktop: Cinnamon v: 5.6.7) and linuxcnc 2.9 (2.9.0~pre1+git20230208.f1270d6ed7 from depository ). My problem is that PnCConf throws an error after clicking the "Done" button. {attached screen shot).
There are 6 errors listed :
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pncconf/pages.py line 126
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pncconf/pages.py line 1610
/usr/bin/pncconf line line 335
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pncconf/build_HAL.py line 373
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pncconf/pages.py line 1804
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pncconf/data.py line 1085

 $ python3 --version returns Python 3.11.2 However there are a python3 and a python3.11 folder in /usr/lib
I'm thinking a pyhton version conflict but need some ideas on how to get it resolved

I think this was fixed recently but the packages in Bookworm are quite old.

Edit: It may be worth trying a package from here if the Bookworm packages aren’t updated soon.

Thanks phillc54,
I have tried 3 version in the link you sent but all behave the same.
(I did remove the older version first using synaptc).
So for the time being I had better go back to older debian version. Which is the recommended conbination of Debian and Linuxcnc for use with mesa 7i96S?

I have just removed the original LinuxCNC, added the 2.9 repository from the previous link and installed LinuxCNC again and PNCconf completed without error.

Warning: Spoiler!
