Mesa 7i95t encoder setup was created by sStein
Hi all!
I built a CNC Plasma table some years ago, running Mach 4. For several reasons i have been wanting to migrate to LinuxCNC, so i bought a Mesa 7i95t and rebuilt my control cabinet.
After wathing som youtube videos by The Feral Engieneer, and reading on this forum, i have set up a basic config using Pncconf. I created a config for a Mesa 7i96 and then renamed the card in the .ini file. This works, and i can move the machine around.
But i am having trouble setting up the encoders, since the 7i96 only has one encoder port, i can only set up one axis with encoder.
But when i tried linking this encoder input to the X axis, this the program chrashed when i tried starting it..
Can i just add the neccesary configuration to my .hal file? If so how do i do that? Or is there a better way to do this?
Any help is much appreciated
And thanks to everyone active on this forum, its a great resource!
Side note/question:
Why is the 7i95/7i95t not an option in pncconf?
Seems like a lot of people have had to work around this for several years...

Have a look here, one of the machines uses Mesa 7i95 (not T), so it should work as is, granted you have to set the scaling and encoder scaling right, and as luck would have it, it is for plasma, for PlasmaC exactly.
