7i92T and mx3660 request for help

Well the first thing is that all home switches are inverted...

The need to be false (dim red) when not activated and Yellow when activated.

(whoever chose those colors should be punished somehow...)
 

Ok, changed all in_out to in and the axes and everything stays enabled - I can jog them. They go in the right direction.

Since I have changed all the limit settings will revisit that later. Many thanks. Your in the run.

Now I need to play with getting my homing back to normal and get the axes unlimited [I had set the travel to less for testing] and start uncommenting other stuff too.

Funny, the homing was INVERTED in Stepconf, but now is not in Pnnconf. Also the latest Pnnconf instructions do not match the Pnnconf I see on my machine. ????? documentation must be lagging I guess, realize everybody is busy and this is a free program......

Parallel port requires pulling inputs down to trigger,
Mesa can have inputs set for pull down or pull up, in hal
Mesa can use all pins as inputs or as outputs, in any combination, and they are much, much faster than parallel port, so it is impossible to have all possible combinations in a wizard.

Ok, got it, good to know - and I do not know that much about Linuxcnc and lastly, Pnnconf / MESA stuff. All new.

But, all limits working now. I just need to check the probe setup - think that I can do after the limit switch and HalShow stuff initiation.

But, my ESTOP is still beyond me. Saw threads where JT and I believe a few others talked about inserting lines that linked the ESTOP pin to other pins or feedback - tries several but beyond me once again. 

ESTOP - loaded all pins and all ESTOP, Abort, Charge pump references into HalShow, enabled [it's a NC switch] my external ESTOP button and nothing in Halshow changed color. Yes, my external button is wired into the mx3660, and yes it shuts down the motors on push.

I tried to move the ESTOP to different pins that were open and then Halshow - no change. The probe pins work in Halshow so I know that is at least on the right pin and gives feedback - I can figure that out.

So any suggestions on ESTOP? Else I will live with it the way it is. Still have a lot of changes to do with travel and positioning in the ini for axes but that's easy stuff, just takes me a little longer one step at a time.

Ok, everything has settled, homes and I have a working machine but ESTOP external button versus software - the external button kills the mx3660 but does not trip in LinuxCNC

Played a little, read some, and am giving the following thinking someone may have the fancy answer.

ESTOP external is NC switch setup, has a NO side not using.

Machine enabled Halshow results:

• ESTOP External OFF:     pin.003.in  RED
• ESTOP External ON:     pin.003.in  RED
•          pin.003.out              no change
  
  Software ESTOP:
  • OFF         pin.003.in                 RED
  • OFF         pin.003.in_not          YELLOW
  • OFF         pin.003.out              YELLOW
  • ON         pin.003.in                   RED
  • OFF         pin.003.in_not          YELLOW
  • OFF         pin.003.out               RED
    
    Understand from reading that the output/input somehow can be linked to false or other pin - tried, I get config errors, no load.
    
    Again, not a deal breaker, but when the external ESTOP is triggered such as during a home, the motors stop but when I raise the button the machine continues - like it paused not ESTOPPED. That's a little disconcerting.

There is no "E-stop in" in your hal file, so LinuxCNC has no way of knowing if the button is pressed or not.
