Something that came up in conversation with cradek with regards to having to change working plane between curved moves and canned cycles was that the peck-drilling canned cycle ought to work for peck-parting in the YZ plane.

So, in theory (and I have not tried this) you should be able to cut fins with:

G19 ; YZ plane
G91 G98 G83 Z5 R0.1 X50 Q2 L10 ; 10 slots every 5mm to a depth of 50mm with a chip-break retract every 2mmm

I would want to cut air with this first to sort out the retract mode...

thanks for that Andy , but being daft I forgot to add cutting fins on a lathe rather than milling vertical

so it's more a parting off routine , cut to depth and step fin distance and repeat x times down the bar

That code was intended for use on a lathe.
Ignore the mention of Y. It moves between features in Z and cuts in X.
