Display tool description in GUI was created by pippin88
I've googled extensively and not found a way to do this.
I'd like to display the tool description (from the tool table) in the GUI.
I have a lathe and a mill with quick change tooling (manual tool change). I don't use them every day, so often forget which tool number is which tool.
I'd like a panel that showed the current tool number and it's description. It would also be great if the manual tool change pop up showed the description as well. So that I can quickly grab the correct tool without checking tool table.
Is this possible?
I haven't been able to get even the tool number displayed in pyVCP, but I'll try GladeVCP today.

I bet your using 2.5.3 version. - Choices are limited.
there is nothing ready made to do what you want.
In the develoment side - the screen Gmoccapy does what you want.
One other problem is linuxcnc does not remember what tool was present when it was shut down.

Chris,
Thanks, gmoccapy looks like a good GUI and does exactly what I need.
I'll move to that.
Thanks.

Hallo pippin88,
that is great, see you in the gmoccapy threat.
I will see, if I can include your idea to display in the change window all relevant tool infos.
